Border Collie - Medium - Young - Female - Dog - Lexus
Description
* { font:inherit; } LexusAge: 1-2yrs oldWeight: should be about 55lbs once she has gained some much needed weightIntake Date: 6/20/09Available: Mid-Late July Lexus is a gorgeous (we believe purebred) Border Collie. She and her 7 puppies were living under a huge pile of wood, behind an auto repair shop on Scott Street. Definately not the best place to raise of family! The owner, Mr. Albonetti, had been feeding the puppies and mom, but he knew they needed to be rescued before they died of a heat stroke. Friday, June 19th Sonia, the director and co-founder of Muttley Crue went out to ascess the situation and was able to catch Porche, one of the pups. On Sat, June 20th the owner of the shop, Mr. Albonetti and Sonia began to round up Lexus and the puppies. Lexus was the first to be caught. The pups weren't so easy, so under the wood, (a huge pile of wood) Sonia went. It was HOT and muddy and HOT under there, but one by one, with the help of Hogan's Huskies and Mr. Albonetti, all the puppies were caught and brought to safety.Lexus is VERY sweet. She is very gentle. She is loving the attention she is getting and the much needed TLC to heal her both emotionally and physically. Lexus is VERY smart as well. She is house trained and learned to kennel on command in just a few tries. She loves to be petted and given any kind of positive attention. She will be beautiful once all her mats are removed and her coat starts to come in shiney and healthy. We are taking our time dematting her so we don't stress her out. Lexus is very eager to please and has really picked up on the routine of her foster home quickly. She is wonderful with theother dogs. Not sure about cats (but she lives a mean Chihuahua and she is fine with him). Lexus is easy going and will make any one a wonderful companion.Lexus has been examined by our vet. She needs to put on about 15lbs more. She is currently severely underweight at just 39lbs. Lexus was dewormed and brought up to date on her vaccines. She was tested for heartworms and tick borne illnesses using the 4DX test and was given a clean bill of health. She has started on Advantage-Multi for the prevention of heartworms, intestinal parasites, and fleas/ticks. She will be spayed prior to adoption.Lexus is pictured below at Mr. Albonetti's garage with some of her puppies. There are 7 puppies total and will all be named after cars in honor of Mr. Albonetti who provided much needed food for Lexus and her babies and his willingness to assist in rescuing the family. We will post indivdual puppy bios as we get to know them better. Right now they are unsure of people, but are coming out of their shells and are leaps and bounds better then they were just 2 days ago. The puppies are being kennel trained, have started on vaccines and have been dewormed. They will be ready for adoption in about a month.Lexus's adoption fee is $200.Please email for an application for adoption.(The adoption fee is designed to cover the cost of getting our rescues up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested, heartworm treated-if needed, spayed/neutered, all other injuries/illnesses treated, monthlty heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, food, etc).
