Meet Maggie May Maggie May came into rescue from a local shelter where she had been picked up as a stray. We don't know how long she'd been fending for herself but she arrived at our rescue severly underweight, malnourished, heartworm positive, with fly bitten ears and loaded with every possible worm out there. Maggie May is a little shy around people unfamiiar to her, but once she knows you, she is content to be with her person. Of course, the quickest way to win Maggie May's heart is with food ... like most dogs that have been starved at some point in their life, Maggie May is ALWAYS ready to eat! Currently we're focusing on weight gain, building up her strength and her immune system so she can then be treated for the heartworms. Maggie May's road to recovery is going to be a long one but she has the spirit and determination to live. Maggie May's soulful eyes tell a story of a hard life, yet she still believes that people are good and Save Our Shepherds will not let her down. The first photo was taken after she'd been here 2 weeks. The others show her condition when she arrived. More photos will be coming as Maggie May is transformed back into the beautiful happy girl she should be. Our adoption fees are: $300 for any dog 1 year and younger (BABY) $250 for any dog 1-3 years (YOUNG) $200 for any dog 3-7 years (ADULT) $150 for dogs over 7 (SENIOR) The adoption fee helps cover expenses for the dogs while in the rescue program including the vet check, vaccines, heartworm testing, stool check, spay/neuter , microchip, plus other necessary veterinary care and training to get the dog ready for adoption. Everyone must submit an application before an appointment is made to meet the dogs. We are not a shelter, but a network of foster homes.
