Stella showed up south of Hwy 302 & Byhalia Road on Farley Drive. The couple already had another dog, do not have a fenced in yard and could not take on another pet at this time. Was Stella another abandoned dog due to our economy? She is very clean, appears to be healthy and does not look like your tipical Marshall County stray. If only we were all mind readers or better yet spoke "dog". Stella is well-mannered, knows how to sit, give "five" and does well with the other dogs in her foster home. She is learning the routine here and knows there will always be a meal for her. The first night here, she would actually hold her bowl with her two front paws close to her head. Making sure even her empty bowl would not leave her. Now she is able to leave a little food behind to finish eating at her leisure. She is tolerating the kennel but you can tell she wasn't used to being kenneled. Everyone gets plenty of outside play time and exercise in the large fenced in yard. Stella tested negative for heartworms, got her rabies vaccine, 7n1. Stella would do best in a home w/o cats. She will chase the cats but in her foster home they don't run from dogs so no need to chase them if they aren't running. But would be best if she went to a home with no cats. Dogs on the other hand are okay and she gets along well with most dogs. Would be best to match her with a male dog although she does well with females that are not too dominant. Stella weighs 42 pounds, spayed and current on vaccines. Save 1 Pet is a 501 C 3 approved charity committed to helping homeless aniamls.
